Jan Von Holleben biography

Jan Von Holleben biography Jan Von Holleben was born in 1977 in cologne and was raised in the southern Germany countryside. He lived most of his youth in a alternative commune there was a strong connection between his photographic work and the influence of his parents who were a cinematographer and child therapist. When he was 13 he followed in his fathers photographic career by experimenting with different tricks, developing his phototgraphic imagination and skills with his friends and family and later honing his technique in commercial settings. After teaching children with disabilities he moved to London and got a degree in the theory and history of photography at surrey Institute of art and design he involved himself with the London phototgraphic scene he worked as picture editor, art director and photographic director. He set up two photographic collectives, Young Photographers United and photodebut, followed more recently by the photographers office. His photographic work focusing on the homo ludens- the man who learns through play, is itself built from a playful integration of pedagogical theory with his own personal experiences of play and memories of childhood. His work has been exhibited internationally and published throughout the world.
